how to walk in heels without falling

Knowing how to walk in heels and not fall is essential to every stiletto lover.

This “yin and yang” lesson that heels teach us is humbling.

But let’s be real…

No one enjoys falling in high heels, which is why having valuable tips for falling in heels properly can make you feel a little more prepared for when it happens so you’re not so fearful about it.

In this post, I’m going to give you five tips for falling in heels that’ll reduce your risk of injury!

How To Walk In Heels And Not Fall

Table of Contents

1. Bend Those Knees

The first tip is to ensure your knees are bent enough to somewhat break your fall without being over-extended.

Having overextended legs when falling increases your risk of injury, so you want to be mindful of how you’re knees are positioned while walking in high heels.

2. Put Your Hands Forward

Putting your hands forward undoubtedly protects your face and is your best bet for breaking your fall.

Brace for impact with your hands out in front of you, but be sure to bend your elbows a bit so that you don’t hurt your arms too much on the way down!

3. Fall With Gravity

Just like you should have your hands in front of you when falling in high heels, you want to throw your body forward to prevent springing your ankle sideways.

What good will your hands do to break your fall if you aren’t falling in the best direction?

4. Let One Foot Give Out!

Most high-heel injuries stem from people trying to re-balance while they fall.

The best thing to do when falling is to let it happen.

Don’t try to force your heel back into place because that’s going to make it worse.

Allow the fall to take place and do the best you can to break it with the previous tips!

5. Get A Prop

If all else fails and you feel like mastering the art of high-heel falling isn’t your forte, the last resort is to get a cane or wheelchair to assist you!

You’ll still look fabulous, but I do recommend you at least try to fall with the previous tips I provided you.

Those were the best tips for falling in high heels properly! There’s no perfect way to fall in heels but you can surely reduce a lot of potential damage by just taking my advice. Happy heeling!
